The difference between fortune-telling and chart work is mostly a difference in what you are allowed to do with the answer.
Prediction hands you an outcome and asks you to wait for it. Pattern-reading hands you a tendency and asks what you want to do about it. The information can look similar on the page; the effect on the person receiving it is not similar at all.
A chart is very good at describing recurring conditions: how you respond to pressure, which kinds of work drain you, when your energy historically dips, which relationships you over-function in. Those patterns are stable enough to be worth naming and specific enough to plan around.
It is much less good — and much more dangerous — as a source of fixed events. Anyone telling you a date on which your life will resolve is selling certainty, and certainty is the most expensive thing in this field.
The test we use is simple. If a reading leaves you with something to do, it was pattern-reading. If it leaves you with something to dread, it was theatre.
